    RAID 5 running way slow

    Hey Guys,

I was browsing on here and saw how helpful everyone is. I decided to throw my lot in too.

    Here's the problem:

I just put together a Raid 5 with 3 new 1TB hard drives, creating a 2 TB volume (really like 1.8 or so). I'm using the asus P6T Deluxe V2 on board Raid controller. The hard drives are:

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive. 3 of them.

Everything was working like a charm. Fresh install, system was blazing. I was updating windows all day with whatever they recommended. Now it is running very slowly.

I know that it updated my raid driver. Could this be the problem? There is clearly something very wrong, with the write speed but I cannot tell what or how to fix it.

I've included the system specs in my profile, but please let me know if there is any info you guys need.

Any help is most appreciated :)

    Many thanks,
    Richard

Hi Richard, Welcome to the forum.
GO to Device Manager you should be able to roll back to the previous driver.
    I hope this helps

    Thanks for your help :)

I've since broke the RAID, reformed it as 2 seperate RAID 0s, and am reinstalling all the drivers carefully. I was getting disk performance scores in the 3.8-4.0 range and that was truly annoying... had to wait for menu to pop when right-clicking the desktop.

Please consider this thread closed, admin :)
