    Soooo Sloooowww

So, my computer used to be pretty fast, not i7 fast, but okay. A few recent updates seems to have bogged down my pc and whenever I try and do anyhitng it crawls. I think that it started with the most recent service pack update. Then IE9, and the video driver upgrade after that. I dont know if its all of these things, or something particualr that can be isolated to help give this thing a kick in the pants. Games that I used to get 100 plus fps on i am now getting like 30. I am going to try and upload some things that I have found. If you need anything else, let me know. Thanks.

Was it immediately after you installed the updates that you noticed, or was it more of a gradual thing?

Have a look at this link. May explain the slow down you are having.

Tuneup Utilities is a tweaking suite. Win7 is too lean to tolerate compound tweaking - it will almost always mess up your system in short order as seen here regularly. If you have been tweaking Win7 beyond normal System settings, try to System Restore to before you got tweaky to see if you can recover.

Otherwise work through these standard troubleshooting steps.

No, that does not apply. When I am not doing anything cpu usage is at like 3 or 4%. It's when I try to load IE9 or a program, or play a game that I get almost 100%cpu usage. Whereas before, I had to try really hard to get it to go to 100%. As i said before, games that I used to get 100fps on Im only getting 30, or less.

Is it possible that the new nvidia driver ithat was updated is the culprit? This is the only thing that I can think of that all of the symptoms have in common. Also, when I load MC7 it changes the resolution and I have to reset it every time(within MC7).

Not that my laptop is really slower on day to day stuff, but ever since NVIDIA has been including the extras like the "physics" and "3D" capabilities, the NVIDIA driver crashes often.

I really hate the new drivers.

What I would try first from the troubleshooting steps I posted earlier is to uncheck all startup items in msconfig>Startup except AV and gadgets. After restart, see if any write themselves back in and turn them off in their program Preferences. Startup Programs - Change

Next in msconfig>Services "Hide all MS Services" to see what is still running without your permission, uncheck all that you didn't start yourself. If they write themselves back in turn off in Preferences or uninstall with great vengeance for their impertinent freeloading.

You now have a clean boot, unless drivers are hanging. Make sure no newer drivers are cued in optional Updates after enabling this: Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware. Check that no drivers are in error in Device Manager: Driver Install - Device Manager

No ideas for the guy who's post got hijacked? I can barely use my pc for gaming anymore. I'd rather not have to spend $1k on building a new one, so, if anyone has any idea of what I can do please let me know.
