Bootmanager is missing -tried most things...

Hi, I installed a linux OS on a flash drive using unetbootin.

When I rebooted and set the BIOS to read the Flash Drive - I got the "Bootmanager is Missing"

I ran repair system from the Windows 7 repair disk three times and it can no longer find anything to repair, i.e. everything looks fine.

Any ideas as to what I can do next?

Thanks!

PS I thought this might be helpful since I read about it in another thread:

In cmd I typed: bcdedit:

thanks for your help and I tried the tutorial via your link. Everything went according to plan and I received all the positive replies from the cmd prompts.

I rebooted.

Still the "bootmanager is missing"

What could be the issue?

Should I try the entire process again, i.e. 3 times the Repair Disk looking for start-up errors, then the cmd prompts as recommended in the above link/ tutorial?

Thanks.....

Do you have the Windows 7 100mb System Reserved partition (if you have it) or the Windows 7 partition itself marked Active? Partition - Mark as Active

Then run up to 3 separate Startup Repairs with reboots.

If it fails, use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to confirm marked Active, then highlight Windows 7 Disk and from Disk tab Rebuild MBR.

If you can see your files with PW CD Explore function, then you can copy them out using this method: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
