    Removing empty folders

Is there a real benefit in removing empty and unused folders? because i tried an application called Remove Empty Directories and removed a lot of empty folders (after a system image backup), but i don't see any real improvement.

No it won't improve anything. Directories are merely an entry in the Master File Table.

The only possible benefit I could imagine is simpler navigation in a less cluttered system. But even that is a stretch.

That is the only advantage and very useful if you do a lot of browsing in your system folders.

An empty folder consumes zero bytes so there's no space saved.

usually the only folder in Windows folder that i browse is C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download to delete junk left by Windows Update, but the browse is quickly.
