    High Memorry Usage

    Hi

i have just recently bought an acer aspire 5742z
it is running win 7 64 home premium with 6 gig of ram

what baffling me is on idle the computer is using 1.16 gig of memory

when adding up all the process's manually it only come to about 300 - 400 meg of ram

i have removed alot of non essential startup programs, alot of acer bloated stuff

can anyone help me reduce the idle process of the memory used? or help me realise why the ram is so high, but all the processe's no where near add up to the amount being used?

    Thankyou

No need to worry, this is perfectly normal for Windows 7 to use about 1.0-2.0GB of RAM when idle
    Unused RAM = Wasted RAM

I shouldn't worry too much about it if your system is running OK.

Windows 7 likes to use what's available, and to be fair, what's the point in investing hard cash for extra RAM if it's sitting there not being used?

As you launch more applications, RAM will be apportioned where it's most needed.

Personally, I'm happy to see all my RAM being used as it means less wear on my hard drive.

    Ok a few things here.
    1) its normal like everyone here is saying use the ram you have.
    2) when you add up the usage make sure you have view all processes.
    3) doing the math you are only using about 20% of the six gigs of ram you have with 1.5 used I see no problem there.
