New build over the weekend--new parts except storage drives and graphics card.
ello folks
heres my WEI. i know its let down by the hdd but i cant justify buyin an ssd yet as i only really game on my pc. im happy with it as is. maybe laters
hmmm not sure. I hadn't even noticed. So I looked on line and got a bunch of scenarios. Mainly to do with voltages and stuff I'm not that well versed in. Also a possibility that a DIMM slot could be bad. The Asus X79 boards apparently have some teething issues. I haven't put the new rig through a good multi-tasking workout yet--for me that would be simply doing some editing and having several Internet tabs open in Firefox and possibly wmp spinning some tuneage. If it seems stable I'm not going to worry about it :)
Not sure; I'll look when I have a different reason to go there again.
The resource manager, my computer properties and wei all report 12.
Asus system monitor and CPU-Z all show 4 slots at 4GB each.
So I can solely guess the system isn't utilizing one because of a voltage issue or something. All are set to standard default 1.5v. When I first built and upon initial POST (unsuccessful) on Saturday the VGA non-detect and RAM-OK lights were on. Running the built in MEMOK test sequences and reboots several times got the ram light to go off. An older vid card allowed me to finally successfully POST and then a BIOS flash to the latest version allowed the newer video card to work.
As much trouble as i had with this build, now that it is set up like my old system and even much faster as far as I can tell, I'm loathe to tweak it any.
My 1.5 TB data hard drive I thought was dead is working fine in the external docking bay even--which leads me to believe sata port 2 was dead on the old MB I moved from.
But just a guess---if it's working I'm all good
1010 pm edit--- ok I edited some video and rendered a short 40 second crash sequence into 720p HD and uploaded to vimeo. All seems well. As many users of sony vegas pro 11 reports, H.264 no longer renders to mp4, just m2t -- unless the setting is set from automatic (cpu and graphics card driven) to cpu only. Should not be hard to remember.

Is it showing 16GB in the bios?[/QUOTE]

Nice rig, nice scores, all maxxed out.
If you have Win8, what is your WEI score, max is now 9.9
