It's actually a Sata III m4 SSD and it started life at 7.9 and has dropped to 7.4 but it's still blazing quick !

    Old dog, new tricks!

My dad gave me his old Dell XPS 400, I dunno, about 3 years ago. He had it for maybe 3 years before that. The thing is a dinosaur by modern computing standards.

It came stock from Dell with an Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz dual core, 2 GB of RAM, a 256 MB GPU (I still have!) and some kind of Sound Blaster audio card.

When I got a hold of it, I promptly put a Linux distro on it and ran like that for well over a year. Then, I decided to max the RAM to 4 GB and drop a GeForce 9500 GT with 1 GB of vRAM in it. I also put a SSD in at one point. AWESOME! It ran Linux like a charm. However, with the advent of the Gnome 3 and Unity desktop environments, I decided to put Windows 7 x64 on it.

Here is the WEI with all the stuff I just mentioned:

    Overall WEI = 4.5

    Processor: 4.5
    Memory (RAM): 5.4
    Graphics: 4.9
    Gaming Graphics: 6.3
    Primary HD: 7.5

Today, I received some very reasonably priced upgrade parts.
I installed an Intel Pentium D 3.6 GHz dual core processor, a Zotac GTX 440 with 2 GB vRAM and an Asus Xonar DG audio card with S/PDIF fiber optic out.

Here is the difference the CPU and GPU made. It's not much but it is a significantly snappier overall experience. I can now play Diablo III without any problems!
