Windows 7: Automatic restart after updates

Hi there. From searching on forums, this is quite an issue. But everybody suggests to go to gpedit.msc. My OS (Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) does NOT have that function. There is a folder for policies, but it is empty. Also, the settings for updates does not have any option of that nature. So what do you do to prevent Windows from restarting automatically after applying an update?

You should have group policies do you have admin?

Hi Maguscreed. I don't know what you mean specifically by 'admin'. But from what I read also, Home Premium does not have Group Policy Editor. So I am following the lead from Bare Foot Kid, about creating a utility. Thanks.

That is correct the gpedit is only in Windows 7 Pro, Ult, or Enterprise.
The shortcuts BFK refers to will fix you up.

Not shortcuts per se, but a small registry tweak. Unzip, right click, give permission if needed, and merge, OK.

I for some reason have been under the impression my machine in the main room was home premium all this time.
It's pro....
Don't know what I was thinking, anyhow yeah my bad.
