Just set up my new lappyOS Windows 7 and was shocked to see that I had 98 processors running and that is without hardly having installed anything lol. Although my lappy is capable of having these feel that it is extremely excessive and of course when I start to install other Applications it will be obscene.
What do you guys think? Should I disable start up applications or anything esle?
Any advise will be greatly received, thanks.

I'd guess you have a lot of stuff running that you don't need, but if performance is snappy, no problem.
I have 51 processes running.
I wonder if it has something to do with the number of cores you have.
Is it a dual core or quad core processor?

It has 4 cores, 8 threads........you shouldn't have a problem running anything.
I wouldn't worry about the number of processes you have running, as it depends upon a number of things.
Whew! For a moment, I thought that this was about a laptop with 98 processors, instead of 98 processes. That would have been quite a laptop.
I have 80 running with my normal daily work programs open.
Most likely everything over 50-60 is all the "crapware", "bloatware" and even some genuinely usable peripheral tools that are installed on all normal laptops. (Like sample AV software that dies after a month etc)
Some of it you can probably safely uninstall and I would (I do on mine). But unfortuantely that would have to be on an individual app by app basis and what I want or don't want would be different from what you would want or don't want.
If you purchased a laptop, it will also depend on which OEM made it as to how much pre-loaded and helper software is preinstalled. For example, most Dell laptops I come across run with 60-65 processes (very few extra software, mostly just wifi and bluetooth software). Lenovo is the other end, with a helper application from everything from hotkeys to battery and power management.
What's installed by the OEM will make a difference here, although whether or not these utilities are necessary is up to you. If you aren't seeing a performance issue, it's probably not worth going crazy removing things at this point, at least in my humble opinion.
