    Virtual Memory for Win7 RTM?

    Hey!

    I'm running Win7 RTM 64bit.

I have 2*1GB DDR2 667MHz of RAM, and was wondering what should be the PF for me? Reading TweakGuides' Vista guide it says if you have 2 GB of RAM you should use Custom Size of 1024-1024 (min-max) MB.

Win7 should basically use the same architecture (kernel model) than Vista, so it should'nt be that different?

All the answers would be great.

Edit: here's the link for guide:

Oh dear. Another of those tweaks guide with a made up formula about PF settings. The best setting is the system managed setting or if you really must set a fixed on then you need to determine the Peak Commit Charge using something like process explorer. Process Explorer

So how do you know how much commit charge your workloads require? You might have noticed in the screenshots that Windows tracks that number and Process Explorer shows it: Peak Commit Charge. To optimally size your paging file you should start all the applications you run at the same time, load typical data sets, and then note the commit charge peak (or look at this value after a period of time where you know maximum load was attained). Set the paging file minimum to be that value minus the amount of RAM in your system (if the value is negative, pick a minimum size to permit the kind of crash dump you are configured for). If you want to have some breathing room for potentially large commit demands, set the maximum to double that number.
from Mark's Blog : Pushing the Limits of Windows: Virtual Memory

    Hope that clears it up.

i would recommend leaving it as default - that way windows can shrink/enlarge it as it sees fit, and you won't get annoying 'out of memory' errors.

Until the very last wannabe with an HTML editor dies, we will have to deal with this question. Or until gravity wave photonic memory is developed.

Leave the setting to system managed.
