    CPU skyrocketed

My laptop is an ASUS notebook G72GX series,
    Intel core 2 duo CPU
    6GB RAM
    windows 64 bit

As soon as its started up the CPU is running at 98% maximum frequency and the perpetrator is "Image:System, Description:NT Kernel & System".
I've looked it up and haven't seen any with success except those who had a different situation. I'm not very good with computers so if you try to help can you please explain with detailed instructions? Also i have 65 processes running (and almost 700 threads) which i tried to fix before since i thought that was the problem. I only have 4 programs run on startup so im not sure what else i can do.

    Thank you :)

    kopp,

would you fluff out your system specs for us please?

    UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
in left-hand column, under Your Profile, Edit System Spec |

Use Speccy - System Information - Free Download
and/or SIW to gather info for filling in the blanks.

Do me a favor. Please add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.

Provide full windows version info, such as provided by Speccy:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

Now that we are passed, that:
Download, install and run CCleaner whichi is free. (link in my sig)

Run both the cleaner and the registry portion thereof. No worry, your computer will not crash and burn. I perform this sequence multiple times daily, although once a day is plenty for the normal user.

After doing that, then I need the startup.txt and the install.txt files that following procedure generates:
LIST OF STARTUP AND INSTALLED PROGRAMS USING CCLEANER

    STARTUP PROGRAMS
CCleaner | Tools icon | Startup button | click on Save to text file button (bottom right side)

Using the PAPER CLIP icon in the top panel of a Message Reply window, attach the startup.txt file generated by CCleaner.

    INSTALLED PROGRAMS
CCleaner | Tools icon | Uninstall button | click on Save to text file button (bottom right side)

Using the PAPER CLIP icon in the top panel of a Message Reply window, attach the install.txt file generated by CCleaner.

You have an unbelievable amount of junk installed on your computer.

Uninstall everything then you do not absolutely need.

For certain, uninstall the torrent program.

Uninstall the two entries related to Panda. Install Microsoft Security Essentials, MSE, link in my sig.
