i have that same laptop... i am running 32bit version of 7 cause when i tried 64bit of 7 it gave me that same issue... as some drivers were causing the issue.... that laptop can only take 4gigs of ram... so was not worth the hassle of 64bit on it . so like i say i went back to 32bit and since then have had no issues with laptop. hope that helps....
i remember at one point i had the issue on the 32bit.. i did something to fix- don't remember!
I bought 4 gb ram and was almost pegged at 85%+ physical mem used with firefox's crappy memory leaks- i can't turn back to 32bit now!

I've recently installed windows 7 ultimate x 64 on my laptop:
HP Pavilion dv6700.
No hardware changes,just stock.
It almost always crashes (at a rate of 8/10) after I wake my laptop from sleep.
