This is not a program. It is a solid state disk to replace your HDD which is most likely the bottleneck. I bet it is a slow 5400RPM HDD.
I can guarantee that this will really make a significant difference. I replaced the HDDs in 5 of my systems with SSDs. Would never go back to HDDs.
There are, of course, little system tweaks you can do here and there. But that will give you only marginal benefits. You would have to tell us more details about the slowness so that we can make suggestions. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

PS: if you ever get funds, an SSD is the best investment for performance you can make. No other combination of components for the same money will yield equal improvements. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

What AMD processor is that. And 25GB on the HDD is OK. The minimum free space you should have is 16GB (in decimal) What is all this stuff you have on the disk. The system and programs should not take more than 20GBs.
It would help if you posted the specs of your system - CPU, RAM (4GB ??), HDD, graphics, DSL specs. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

Well, at least you will not get a lot of paging activity with the 4GB of RAM. But in multitasking you are limited because your CPU has only 1 core and 2.2 GHz is relatively slow - even a Pentium4 is faster - and that is an old CPU from 6 years ago.
The graphics is normal for that type of low end laptop. It will do the normal jobs - useless for gaming though.
For your internet sluggishness I suggest you take this line test: Speed Test : upload and download | DSLReports.com, ISP Information (pick the node that is closest to you). Then post the results of upload/download speeds and we'll see.
Bottom line: I don't think there is anything wrong with your PC. It is not a barnstormer by design. Some of the usual recommendations like reducing the number of startup programs will not even help. You have plenty of RAM to accomodate those startups.
Who sold you that laptop. I am just wondering because it is an unusual configuration compared to what is common these days. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 Laptop a bit slow problems?
