Use this defrag tool to 'defrag&optimize' the files on your HD, you can also check to put system files into the fast area of the disk at the options.

Windows 7 doesn't really need to be tweaked, as it is already set to be lean and efficient out of the box. The best way to tweak it is to use your system as you normally would, and let it optimize itself accordingly. Disabling services and altering the OS are not needed, and can actually be harmful to the system.

Not quite sure why you want to mess with Windows 7's settings.

My system runs just fine.........with not a tweak in sight.

    Hello Wicca,

You can look through these to see which ones you would like to apply. Be sure to read the warnings for each one at it's link though.

    Optimize Windows 7

    Hope this helps,

The only tweaks that won't be counterproductive are updating your hardware - Motherboard and/or CPU or HDD -> SSD

Yeah, microsoft has finally figured out how to run windows lean and mean. With ram so cheap, bump up to 4GB, or even more if you multitask or run vm's. If you have the money, get a SSD.

How many millions users worldwide are using Windows? No way can Microsoft create an OS that will suit all of them with default settings.
