How can you explore/read reg files

If you export keys, etc, from the regisrty...is there a way to view or explore those exported or save keys, etc, separate and apart from the main registry file ?

If I click on saved *.reg (exported keys) I get "do you want to make changes to the registry" pop-up ?

    Thanks..TRinAZ

The default action to take when left-clicking on a .reg file is Merge, hence the reason for you getting that message about making changes to the registry. With registry files, get into the habit of right-clicking instead and choosing the required option from the menu, i.e. Edit. You can still Merge the file if you so wish by selecting that option.

Obviously, if you have set your mouse as left-handed instead of the default right-handed then left-clicking and right-clicking will perform the opposite action.

Dwarf is correct - a .reg file is just text that is interpreted as reg keys when imported. You can open a .reg in notepad to view the contents.
