    Cooling fan warning

    hi, i just received this message;
    "Waring: a problem has been detected with the cooling system. please switch off device and return for service. " --> something along those lines.

    is this something to be worried about immediately? i am at uni so i cant really go without my laptop at the moment. both fans are running (normally by the sound of them) and while writing this temps are between 35 and 50 on all cores (using speedfan) which is normally what i get.

    if i dont do anything immediately and there is a problem will it void my warranty or anything serious like that?

    I would treat the message seriously.... until proven otherwise.{especially if under Warranty.}

    Hello. This is a Toshiba laptop correct? I find all kinds of hits on google. I think if we had your specific model, it may be easier to pare it down. Please fill out your system specs completely:

    System Info - See Your System Specs

    Then we'll go further :)

    Well, this is a VERY common problem. Some get this warning 2 days after they got the laptop. Many say they sent it back, but no real definitive answer to whether it is a hardware issue, or a detection issue. Google the phrase:

    Toshiba Warning: a problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service.

    You'll see what I mean. Also see this Toshiba Forum thread:

    Cooling Warning - Toshiba Forums

    You say your laptop is under warranty? I would contact Toshiba support, or post on their forum for your country. With such a common error, and many reporting temps are ok, and posts going back almost 2 years, you'd think they would know the cause by now. Sorry, I looked through a number of sites, and found no definitive fix. A Guy
