[Help] Slow Computer

Hey, I'm new to the forums, and wanted some help with fixing my very slow computer. It is an HP dv7-4080us Notebook with Intel i7 processor, running windows 7 64bit. for the past 2 years, it has been running very fast, but then I brought it on one of my vacations. After that, it ran very slow, and I have not been able to fix it. It runs fast in safe mode. I scanned it with Norton, and I'm currently scanning with Avira. No viruses. I also made it so that no processes or services that weren't needed for the system started on startup. I barely noticed any change in speed.
Thanks for any future help!

I agree with scrooge, run CCleaner - Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download and Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download.

Do you have both Anti-virus products installed? If so uninstall one of them. Running more than one antivirus is never a good idea. It may sound like good logic to boost your security but in reality it can cause slowdowns as they compete with each other monitoring and scanning the same files.

Download the freeware version of HDTune then perform a quick speed test and post the screenshot.

Remove all your anti-viruses (except MBAM), and install Microsoft Security Essentials. Its lightweight on the system, compared to other Anti-viruses, and is completely free. Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

It was only norton when it was slow, i installed avira, because i heard good things about it and wanted a second opinion. Thanks for the advice though, I'll uninstall avira.

I actually payed for Norton, so I'm not sure if I want to remove it, but I'm removing Avira. What is MBAM? I'm currently installing Security Essentials, thanks!

Please, I know you payed for Norton, but try to get a refund if possible on it. Norton is a resource hog, and not very good in my opinion. Do not install another anti-virus if you still intend on keeping Norton. Two anti-viruses installed at the same time do not enhance security, it only slows down the computer a lot. Stick to only one real-time antivirus. MBAM is MalwareBytes Anti-Malware

Well I would recommend Avast: Anti Virus, Try running that. If none of these things other members have posted work, Just try and reformat your PC
