    Slow performance

    I recently bought a Toshiba laptop, Model: Satellite C660-18C running on Windows 7 Home premium and it seems to be running extremely slow. Im pretty sure this has something to do with the Start System Config but I dont know which programs it is safe to disable. Here is the list of start up programs in my system configuration;

    HD Audio Background process
    HWSetup (Toshiba Electronics, Inc)
    KeNotify Application (Toshiba Corporation)
    McAfee Security Centre
    Message Centre (Toshiba Corporation)
    Nero BackItUp
    Raptr
    Realtek HD Audio Manager
    SVPWUTIL Application (Toshiba Corporation)
    Synaptics Pointing Device Driver
    Toshiba Flash Cards (Toshiba Corporation)
Toshiba HDD SSD Alert (Toshiba Corporation)
Toshiba Notebook Registration (Toshiba Europe GmbH)
    Toshiba Online Product Information (Toshiba)
    Toshiba Power Saver (Toshiba Corporation)
    Toshiba ReelTime (Toshiba Corporation)
    Toshiba Service Station (Toshiba Corporation)
    Toshiba Tempro (toshiba Europe GmbH)
    Toshiba Volume Regulator (Toshiba Corporation)
    Toshiba Zooming Utility (Toshiba Corporation)
    TRDCReminder (Toshiba Europe)

I really dont have much experience with these things and would appreciate any help I can get,

    Thanks

Try giving MSCONFIG a try. Go to the Startup tab and try unchecking some of what you feel is unneeded. Stuff like online registrations and zoom utility are just a few I'd try to disable. Anything related to your audio and synaptic software (which is your touchpad) should be left alone.

    Adie,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

    | type MSCONFIG | ENTER | STARTUP tab |
Uncheck ALL except for Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. | OK |
    RESTART your computer.

Don't worry. You've not deleted anything. You've simply told Win 7 not to run the programs at startup time.

    Now how are things?
