Usb power wont resume

Hi

My USB power doesn't restore from sleep.

I't used to. The only recent change was after installing the HP WiFi mouse.

The mouse was a disaster and was returned. I now have a logitec but alas when coming out of sleep my USB power doesn't restore anymore.

I dont think it was anything to do with the mouse change but it is the only recent alteration to my system.

I have been through power management advanced settings (to clear the USB Suspend setting) and unchecked all the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' settings in the USB Root Hub devices (in fact in all devices!). Even though the restore from sleep used to work with the settings as they were on build.

But still I have no power on restore from sleep.

I used to think I knew my way around Win 7, but I am clearly useless.

I even restorted to a system restore point but alas that failes with a 800500 ffff error.

Depressed from the UK.

Do a complete shut down and restart. I know very little about sleep because I don't use it. Sometimes a reboot can do magic.

Welcome to Seven Forums Kazzar. Try this:

Start> In search box type Device Manager> Enter> Expand the Device you are having issues with> Right click on the device and choose properties> Click on the Power Management tab> Make sure Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is unchecked

Repeat for any other devices if necessary.

Also:

Start> In the search box type Power Options> Enter> Click on Change plan settings for your selected power plan

Click on Change advanced power settings

Expand USB settings> Expand USB selective suspend settings> Change to disabled

Let us know if these things don't help. A Guy

EDIT: Lol, always look for a tute from Brink

USB Power Wont resume from sleep

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the post.

Still no luck. I rechecked as I had already tried these things. But it is still the same!

Woe is me!

More knowledgeable members will be along, but in the mean time, you might look at this program (download page has link to a Windows 7 capable beta, but the Vista version may work in compatibility mode). Not used this myself, but had bookmarked it earlier.

MCE Standby Tool

Download

Suggest a backup or system restore point as always as a precaution should you choose to install.

P.S. Have you run the System File Checker?

Hi Guy

Life is wonderful again. And my sleep is restored.

I found USB3 driver update on Gigatbyte (even though all my USB's were ill). Update fixed it. But why had it stopped in the first place. I guess we will never know,

Thanks for the exchanges tooday I appreciate the advice and help.

Kaz.
