Chkdsk Errors

Hi guys,

Out of the blue, Windows started asking to check my External HDD for corrupt files. I went ahead and opened a command prompt and did a read only scan of chkdsk. It reported all fine and dandy and needs some fixing, no problem. The only problem is that I don't know which files are corrupted, and need to be fixed. This is the result of the chkdsk scan.

Help would be appreciated.

You are using check disk in read only mode. Have a look at this; Disk Check

That does not look good. I would try to save the data asap - maybe with a live Linux CD. No idea how to repair those indexes.

I know how to fix it, I just want to know what files in my HDD are affected. I'm not bothered too much by it, since I have a lot of .iso's of my DVD game's on my HDD to keep the CD's in best condition as possible. I store free useful programs also, some work that if gone isn't really important. Could anyone help me in finding files that are damaged? A number assigned to the file isn't really useful... The only information that the results have given me are that only 3 files are corrupted, which isn't too bad...

If you have a disk editor you might be able to track them down. I WOULD PROCEDE WITH GREAT CAUTION WITH A DISK EDITOR!

I cannot help you to find the files but I read in your post that only the indexes are damaged, not the files themselves
