I am using 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop, found it was a bit slow.
Goto Disk Defragmenter to analyse, 5 % fragmented.
But I still go ahead.
It had gone 5 passes, relocate...etc.
Then looks like stop at
Pass 5: 0% consolidated
It's been 40 minutes unchanged up to now, still 0% consolidated.
My harddisk is a 320GB one.
How much free space? how much RAM?

Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1 GHz
3 GB RAM
320 GB Hard disk
107 GB free
Win 7 Home Premium SP 1

Well just to be on the safe side lets run a system file check. I dont think the OS is the problem but SFC is fast and will give us a direction.
Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

I remember a time I had a situation like that on my XP machine, and I found that the OS was in a constant state of Indexing. I wonder if that is happening here?
Actually this same situation is also happening with me. It stops after it goes to 5 passes. I have also ran SFC/SCANNOW 3 times already and it hasnt really found anything.

To gather info, use SIW or Speccy or System Info
Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.
Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit
Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc
Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button
I recommend against using Defraggler due to problems involving your shadow copies.
The Win 7 Defragger is safe and has no complications.
