programs affecting when to turn off the display

my windows 7 ultimate 64bit will not turn off the display after allotted time if windows media player is running but it will turn off the display with windows media center running can i change these settings which programs will and will not allow the display to turn off is there any software ?

my windows media centre will allow turn off the display other programs will not allow turn off the display can i configure the media center to keep the screen on while playing it is there any third party software a like power manager

I'm sorry can you try one more time
with different wording?
I'm not really understanding you
If you want to prevent the screen from shutting off on it's own.
Just go to control panel -> power options and change monitor to always on.
