Windows 7 on hibernate brings welcome(log on) screen

Please help!

Whenever I try to put my system(windows 7, 32-bit) on hibernate from the start hibernate option, it brings to the welcome(log on) screen. I've tried a lot of things with fail. I made sure that hibernation is enabled through powercfg.
As it is I'm frustrated with the frequent power failures this hibernate thingy adds to the frustration.
Thank you.

I seem to remember reading through another thread sometime ago that the problem was caused by the C drive not being the active one.

Can you post a screenshot of your expanded disk management layout?
