Computer runs very slowly, apparently after new Router was connected.
My mate has a Compaq laptop running Win 7 64. He needed a new Router and installed it but ever since the whole laptop has run very slowly. It is not the router as a friend took his laptop up and it flew online with no problems at all.
As an old XP user I went through all the stuff I would have done on my old machine, cleared the cache, emptied the Temporary Files, Defragged, run CCleaner but when I went looking for the .ini file to check what programs are loading at bootup I was stumped as I cannot remember the name of the particular .ini fle.
I used to go Start-Run and then enter something.ini and the applet would open with several tabs. I cannot see where this would be in 7 so I am unable to help my friend.
Can anyone assist me with this please and maybe suggest other areas I may try to locate the problem. He was told by the router company that a program may have misinstalled, is there such a word?, but I have no idea how to search that out in 7.
Also, where do I find out if there are any hardware conflicts? I can't find this anywhere.
Thanks in advance for any advice that you can give me.
