Hello chiyuan, by reformatting do you mean you have done 3 full clean installs? Have you allowed chkdsk to run and finish?
yes.. 3 full clean reformat.. i've always let it finish checking disk.. but a few times it got stuck there and cant load into windows.. therefore i reformatted it.. this 3rd time... the disk check happens again... but still able to load into windows.. for the time being....
Your specs only list a generic "Hard drives 50GB". Is that correct? 50GB? And who is the manufacturer? Can you update your system specs?
System Info - See Your System Specs
The best bet is to run the manufacturers disk check tool, such as Seagate's Sea Tools

yes..Compaq Presario B2800.. 50GB HD space.. Intel (R) Pentium (R) M Processor 1.73GHz.. 1GB RAM.. I installed wins 7 on my own.. its been working fine for 1 year plus... till recently this case happened.
Have a look at these steps and there are links to other drive manufacturers' tool too.
How to Test your Hard Disk Drive for Problems
If you follow the System Info - See Your System Specs
your specs are available in all of your posts. Look in the bottom left side.
i've done all disk check using the tools u suggested... all is fine.. but i'm sure the black screen disk check will appear soon again before startup.. if this is the case.. is it a hardware problem? or how should i deal with it?
I've had that problem with software too. The original IE9 Beta caused it for me.
Some things to check.
1. Are you running any new software.
2. Have you had any power outages while the system is running.
3. Have you run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.
as i've done reformatting, it is definitely i have to install new software.. but its been the usual software im using all the while for 1 year plus... and i've done 3 times of reformat.. as i dont hear any sounds on my harddisk.. its not a hardware problem? is it a software problem?
If you run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt it will detect and repair any windows software corruption. You may need to run it two or three times if it finds errors.
