    New computer.... opted out of Geek Squad

    I just bought a laptop and was told by the sales guy that I could pay the Geek Squad $99 to remove unwanted/needed pre-installed programs. I was told that there 7-10 in the registry to remove. The computer being brand new is sluggish, can anyone tell me how to remove without having to buy a program.

    You can start by using this free software...
    Crappy PC No More! | The PC Decrapifier

    Then go into start, type in msconfig/click on Start up/ and uncheck programs you don't want to have in startup.
    Post back for more help.

    I've heard many horror stories about the HARM that poorly trained Geek Squad techs have caused, not to mention their outrageously high fees for service. Much better to find a trusted computer repair service in your area, if you're able to.

    In your case, however, because your computer is new, it's of course under warranty and is also possibly within the initial period of time that you can return it or exchange it. You should not be having this problem with a new system!!!! In any event, you should not have to pay Best Buy/Geek Squad ANYTHING to fix something that is wrong with your new system!!! If you're within the initial 30 days or so, return/exchange your system --- or if not, get them to honor the warranty!

    I support what Imperfect1 has recommended....
    BTW It would be nice had you included more details about this new computers specs. { Hardware & software}

    Assuming that your computer is new & under warranty
    Take it back from whence it was purchased.
    Explain why you are dis - satisfied.
    Under Warranty terms a duty of care applies.
    Let us know what eventuates please.
