Win7 64b Excessive "waiting for..." on web pages

Greets to all!

There are two Windows 7 machines on my home network. One, and older Dell with Windows 7 32b will access all pages (Chrome & Firefox) nearly instantly. The other, my 'hot machine' with Windows 7 64b and an OC'd i7-860 processor, can't get a web page up without a long delay "Waiting for http://webite.com" message. It took nearly 2 minutes for this site to finally appear.

As I'm typing this desperate cry for help I'm running the 'fast' machine in Safe Mode w/networking and there is NO delay - web pages pop up like the should. The "Waiting for..." messages flashes by, quickly overwritten by "Transferring from...".

SOMETHING in this copy of Windows 7 must be mucking things up. AFAIK I have the latest network drivers, latest Nvidia drives... have a 14ms ping from NJ to Phila, PA. Since the older machine works so well, I'm fairly sure the cable modem, router and switch are all good... and now in Safe mode getting the good performance says there must be some something mis-set or hosed up in the full system itself.

Any ideas greatly appreciated! Now rebooting into 'slow' mode with the full system.
