Sleep problem after updates For some reason the system refuses to automatically go to sleep after the required idle time set up in Power Options. The issue seems to occur after program/Windows 7 updates? If I go into the Power Options and Update something the automatic sleep function starts working again (sometimes!). Somewhere along the line someone gave me a Run Command that would show what is keeping the system from entering sleep mode. I lost the command since I thought the problem went away for good a few months ago! Help, I will make sure I don't lose it again. | My System Specs |

Thanks for the links.
I was wrong - the problem was not that Windows 7 would not go to sleep it was that it woke up almost immediately after going to sleep. Thanks to the forum member "A Guy" (powercfg -wakelast) I was able to figure out that it was the Intel Controller (82579V) that was causing the unwanted wake-up. I unchecked the "Wake on Pattern Match" under the Power Management Tab and the problem went away?! I WAS right about the software update - I installed the latest and greatest Intel driver version 16.5 trying to solve the Gigabit Network Connection - Disconnect, ec1cexpress, Event ID 27 warning message".
So the Sleep issue has been resolved! But... the Event Warning message that is generated every time the system exits the Sleep State is still with me! Short of buying a new NIC card and disabling the onboard Intel 82579V controller I sure would appreciated any suyggestions on how to resolve the original problem. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU 2600K Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V pro Memory 8 GB Corsair Vengence C8 Graphics Card MSI 560 TI Sound Card Intel on MB Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 2433 Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU SeaSonic X850 Case Corsair 600T Cooling Corsair H60 Hard Drives 120 GB Mushkin Deluxe SATA III SSD

Ok, I fixed it! Call it yet another senior moment.
My original problem is the Gigabit Network Disconnect Waring message in the Event Log that gets generated everytime the system wakes up from the Sleep State. I am not the only one with this problem but I have yet to find a solution. An ASUS Forum moderator said the 16.5 driver may fix the problem (My MB is the P8Z68-V Pro with the Intel 82579V chip), ASUS technical support said Duh - it must be a Microsoft problem!! The Intel Forum is littered with this issue but I have not found the magic combination to to make the warning go away. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit CPU 2600K Motherboard Asus P8Z68-V pro Memory 8 GB Corsair Vengence C8 Graphics Card MSI 560 TI Sound Card Intel on MB Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 2433 Screen Resolution 1920X1080 Keyboard Logitech Wireless Mouse Logitech Wireless PSU SeaSonic X850 Case Corsair 600T Cooling Corsair H60 Hard Drives 120 GB Mushkin Deluxe SATA III SSD

Good you have something fixed at any rate.
As for the NIC warning, does the adapter come online and work? If so I'd not worry about the Event Log warning. It does record superfluous events, such as XXX device failed to respond in a timely manner, or Program x has failed to do this or that. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Built Desktop By DataTech OS Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 CPU Intel i5-2550K, Differing ~4.4-4.8GHz No built in GPU Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Memory 16GB G.Skill Sniper 2133MHz 4x4GB Graphics Card ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 Sound Card Onboard Realtek 5-1 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung P2570HD Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Old, beat-up Dell USB From 10 yrs Ago Mouse Gigabyte m6900 wired PSU Corsair HX650W Case Inwin Dragon Rider Cooling Hyper 212 EVO w/two Noctua fans, push-pull, @1300 RPM Hard Drives Crucial M4 128GB for OS, 750GB Seagate MomentusXT for data, 500GB Seagate Constellation for storage Internet Speed 8-19 Mbs down, 3-4 Mbs up Comcast Cable Antivirus Norton Internet Security Browser IE 9, Opera when needed Other Info 4 case fans, LG BluRay-RE, ASUS DVD-RW, Mr. Fusion power generator with flux capacitor, 1.21 gigawatts. |

Power management issues with Asus P8z68-V Pro/Gen3 Heya,
I'm also having sleep issues with this mother board and Win 7 / 64bit
not sure what's going on.
I removed all USB devices except keyboard and mouse
Nothing in DM is set to wake up computer.
The system goes to sleep (all LED lights on chassis power off. It wakes and then turns off again , wakes and turns off again, comes back on, but the system doesn't fully come on. Screen blank/no keyboard led's
push power button , it goes off. Power button again, Windows starts and says it didn't shut down properly.
Even turned off Speedstep and EPU OFF in the bios.
Anyone else with this mother board see this problem? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom baby.. OS Win 7 64bit Motherboard Asus P8z68-V pro/Gen3 Sleep problem after updates problems? All times are GMT -5. The time now is 08:50 PM. | |
