This might be fun to play with:
"
ImDisk Virtual Disk Driver", at:
LTR Data
It's been discussed in the 911CD forums (BartPE), Bootland.net, and I'm sure other fine technical places.
Check out Olof's link to Bootland.net (his "home"), especially this post, found there:
How do I recreate a ram disk with reboot?
"jaclaz" has provided many people, on various forums, with excellent help when in dire situations,
but gets disturbed when noobs don't RTFM (can't blame him here)...
I like to create a B:\ 1440K floppy, and
format it, when playing around with the original "F83 for IBM PC" (Laxen and Perry)...
I run mostly XP Pro, but I
think it ran OK under Windows 7 32-bit...
Dunno about x64.

The install package works on Windows NT 3.51/NT 4.0/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/Server 2008, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
Special note for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008
On Vista and Server 2008 you need to either turn off UAC, User Access Control, or setup the
driver to auto-load on system startup..
