Did you carry out a clean install of Windows 7 or was it an upgrade install?

You need to have open Windows Task Manager and have a look at how many processes you've got running to see what's hogging your CPU.

Are you using more than one anti-virus program?

Have you checked for malware?

Something's definitely wrong - 100% CPU usage...need to have a look at the running processes.

HC4L: you're welcome to send me a PM if you'd prefer help in German. (Schick' mir eine private Nachricht, wenn Du auf Deutsch Hilfe haben möchtest.)

EDIT: could you redo the screenshot showing your running processes, but with the checkbox "Prozesse aller Benutzer anzeigen" ticked on?

Why is chkdsk so much slower at boot time?
Something I've always wondered about: if I do a disk Properties/Tools/Check now and am successful i.e. the drive's not mounted and is checked (typically with just "auto fix" selected, not "check for bad sectors") it runs lickety-split i.e. usually less than a minute even on very large drives. ...

slower boot time after patch? how?????!
Very interesting observation: I have a spare pc with win7 64bit professional (no SP1) on a ssd which I bought a year ago. Back then, it booted within 20sec or so. I noticed a slower boot time after the SP1 patch. So I assumed the patch slows the PC and so I went on with my life. Now that I...
