Ok from what I see from your task manager windows is that you have 80+ processes running did you try to turn off all the process that you don't need (don't touch anything Microsoft) and see if that speed up your pc.

I did try turning off as many as I could in startup (Dropbox, Skype, etc) but nothing really changed. There are three different user accounts on the computer and they're often all logged in, that's why there's a bunch. Do I need more RAM, maybe? I notice IE alone can take up ~180,000 KB of ram, and with multiple accounts running multiple windows of IE it tends to add up pretty fast.

Glad to see you received some performance boost. Is Windows stable so far?
So far it is stable, but it's actually not a lot faster. I'm thinking I'll read the rest of that optimization list later.

Do I need to install any drivers to optimize SATA/AHCI? I've been wondering about that. Also, I'm never sure if of how I should ever update my mobo's chipset/SATA drivers. Would I do it from the motherboard manufacturer's website, or from the chipset's website? Or is it not necessary to update SATA/chipset drivers?

I would check the motherboard's site first. If the drivers are outdated by more than six months, check the chipset's website. This assumes that your motherboard provides such updates, which I think MSI does from prior experience with that manufacturer.

I do not think you need more memory; I don't think you would see that drastic of a performance change from that based on only 65% of it being used. You can end processes in task manager that are only for your user, but avoid any that say SYSTEM or anything else. I assume Brad is your username? End processes that say Brad if you know you are not using that software.
