Programs lag when minimizing, warcraft game lags

I've been using this windows 7 desktop for over a year, and everything has been fine until the past few days. When I minimize a program or when i maximize it when it is minimized, the program lags. For example, when I am running firefox and when i click the minimize button, instead of firefox minimizing in a swift motion, it minimizes slowly in other words, lagging. Also, when I play Warcraft the game lags. It lags in a really strange way, almost as if the game is drifting around when I move my mouse. Usually when games lag, the controls you make respond slowly, or it is in a jerky kind of way. I've tried restarting my computer many times, and all is well for the first 15 mins or so, before this lag kicks in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That lag has to do with internet lag (slow connection). Your lag would likely have more to do with a slow computer (but we'll see if we can fix that).

    • First order of business: What kind of antivirus do you have? You might couple Malwarebytes with it and see if malwarebytes finds anything. It is a known and reputable antimalware that works well with most antivirus software (Haven't heard otherwise). Update it and let it scan your computer.
    • I have this link to a list of tutorials that may provide you with a speed boost, try it out: Optimize Windows 7
    • You will need all your drivers installed and up to date. Could you please provide me with this information, and I will let you know what those drivers are: Fill out your system specs (this tool may help you out a great deal).
