Windows 7: New Computer Getting Slower By The Day

JMH

Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit. SP1.

* As suggested by StalkeR >Go to Task Manager > Click "show processes from all users" > use the Snipping Tool to take a pic of ALL that are running > send it to us to see just what is running please.

BTW You say you have 107 Task Manager processes.
A tad excessive indeed.

* Did your "relatively new computer " come with a preinstalled Anti Virus?
Is so what was it & how did you remove it?

McAfee is generally a curse, so I'd uninstall it. You may have to use a special uninstall tool from McAfee as anti-virus apps are often hard to get rid of entirely.

Don't know what "smth" is.

No.

I have Realtek sound and I have it unchecked.

112 processes is still a major boatload.

Chrome is using ~1GB of ram, but you have pretty enough, so that's not the problem. Also Chrome know to slow down the pc sometimes, especially if you have opened flash sites.
I don't know what tasks you are running atm, but I see some processes that you won't need as:AAM Updates, iTunes helper, Google Toolbar, PVDVD9 Service and others...

I see that you are on desktop pc, but anuway you have more than 100 processes, and that is a lot..

Reboot and tell us how many processes are running 3 minutes later, before you open anything manually.

You can turn off most stuff that runs at startup through msconfig startup tab.

Get a lightweight non-intrusive anti-virus. Maybe Microsoft Security Essentials.

Are you rid of McAfee entirely?

Windows will start fine with NOTHING checked in the startup tab of msconfig, but you should leave anti-virus checked.

My new computer is slower than expected.
Hello all, I recently built my own workstation. I am a web/software developer and I wanted something that would have plenty of gusto for my work. After putting it all together though, I am not impressed with the performance. It doesn't seem to be any faster at startup or in loading applications...

My old computer is slower than he should be
I live in a shared flat, and we wanted to use my old computer for the living room, so set him up with the TV by s-video, which works pretty good. We wanted to use it for emulating n64 or watching movies that lay on our HDD's and stream them through wlan. Now, to avoid problems with our...
