Solved Sfc /Scannow found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

The title says it all. basically I have been running SFC scans all day and ran 2 chckdisk scans. Each time no luck. constantly getting "found problems but unable to fix some of them" message.
here are the details..

Is there any other easy solutions around this?:sarc:
I'm aware of a repair install but would like to know if there areany other easy fixes.

try to unistall KB2492386.
from elevatd command prompt:
WUSA /uninstall /kb:2492386

now do a sfc/scannow again
after that install kb2492386 again

does that fix your problem?

the files appear to be part of the KB2492386 patch for compatibility, which gets updated every now and then - the versions here aren't the latest, so installing the latest patch may well fix the probem.
download and save the appropriate one from here

and install it
see what error message you get, if any.

@Kaktussoft uninstalling it solved the problem...that is until I reinstalled and it reoccurred once again

@Noel, just tried your solution and no luck unfortunately

The only solution seems to be just uninstalling KB2492386 completely..
I would have never guessed

Do you hav those 2 dll files on disk? look in C:\Windows\AppPatch\AppPatch64 and C:\Windows\AppPatch

AppPatch folder should contain both files and AppPatch64 contains AcXtrnal.dll but not AcRes.dll

Hello Kaktussoft, I installed both versions of KB2492386
the original and the one you suggested and each time the [unable to fix corrupt files]
message occurred.

both versions?? I didn't suggest anything

I assume he means one version from WU, and the other downloaded from teh KB article/Download Center.

Is your machine running ok otherwise? Have you changed ....say the log in background ? Why were you running chkdsk and sfc/scannow in the first place? I ask because changing the background and/or start orbs etc. can sometimes cause the "corrupted files" thing you mentioned. I have went through this myself. My machine run's perfectly so.......

Try SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot using the DVD or Repair CD.

If this fails after 3 passes, find a Win7 SP1 Installation DVD for your version and run a Repair Install.

It's obvious you are interesting in troubleshooting your computer so I'd also run through these troubleshooting steps to see if anything else comes up.http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...-lags-every-couple-seconds-2.html#post1131640

I would not, unless you want to try a Repair Install to experience it.

Instead at your leisure I would work through the other troubleshooting steps to get a full PC checkup which may come across another or related problem, or give you clean bill of health.

Or do nothing at all and watch performance carefully.

I have ran 2 repair installs in the past
came here and found the solutions I was looking for so thankfully I wont have to perform one. I will folow your steps Greg
