Windows 7: New to windows 7 question about running services and processes

i just built my first computer and i am now running windows 7 after being on windows xp since it first came out so everything is very different to me so will probably be around these forums quite a bit lol

so my questions right now is how many processes is around the average cause ive seen my process to be as high as 70 at a time right now its 52 so i want to see what i can remove from running

that brings me to services is there a link or services you can tell me arent needed and tell me a description of them so i can determine if there truly not needed

ive noticed sometimes my cpu usage varies quite a bit and goes up and down very fast and dramatically thats another reason i want to look into more what is running and what i dont need

Average processes for 64 bit is around 62.

If we had your system specs we could give you a better answer.

what info are you looking for specifically

You are OK in terms of # of services. I would not muck around with them. There is absolutely nothing to be gained.

just looking to get rid of anything that doesnt have to be there or provides no use coming home an old comptuer with xp im use to having to do such a thing dont know if i have to on this new system but thought it wouldnt hurt to ask to see

If we had your system specs we could give better advice but IMHO, if you have a decent amount of ram and cpu, I wouldnt bother. There are so many interactions and dependencies between some services that 6 months from now you may not remember you have disabled something that is needed for the new thing you are installing.

Have you gone to control panel/programs/turn windows features on and off? if not.. turn off stuff you dont need.

well what specs are you looking for i gave you my hardware specs..i do get what your saying when it comes to turning stuff off
