HI all,

My BFE service Base Filtering Engine has been deleted by a nasty installer or whatever...

how can i manually reinstall the BFE service without a full reinstall ?
i don't have any system restore point available (never need this sh##ty feature in the past)
Windows 7 x64

BFE service does not appear anymore in the "local service"
service has been deleted!

i wish that you have more interesting things to do than post a useless comment
now, to santa
i wish :
- Windows 7 would not be so damn-vulnerable
- i had this damn-restore point
- PC games would be 100% damn-available under ubuntu

@myg: If you are still having trouble, try:
1) Reinstall from DVD as "upgrade". That might reinstall your BFE. Repair Install
2) Repair Computer - from Boot CD or by repeatedly pressing F8 on boot
3) Start CMD (Accessories, Right-Click, Run as Admin) and run sfc /scannow - that might repair/replace BFE

Or maybe logicearth has you sorted out on a different thread.

Good Luck!

Well, #1 isn't really possible if you aren't running as admin, so we will ignore that for now. #2 should be available unless you've disabled the feature (or used a non VSS-aware defrag app excessively), but it's probably not worth discussing at this point either. #3 will be possible once Linux libraries and desktop environments stabilize and become widespread in use, but that will make Linux an attractive target for nasty code, bringing us full circle .
