Is it necessary to clean windows 7

Most registry cleaners are sales scam operations with no genius at all behind them, and MucAfee is a sales operation with products which actually hurt your System - we help users solve problems every week by replacing it.

If I were you I would System Restore to a point before you installed the Registry cleaner while you still can, make sure all traces of it are gone.

I only use AdvanceSystemCare, TuneUp Utilies and CCleaner (with CCEnhancer) to keep my netbook in shape.

Advanced System Care and Tune Up Utilities are optimizers which are not recommended for use with Win7 by anyone here. In fact the compound tweaking they do is the cause of many problems we encounter.

It is no longer necessary to apply XPired methods to Win7 which is the first featherlight, instantaneous OS out of the box, as long as there is adequate hardware. It requires no tuning or optimizing, and many experts don't even think it needs cleaning or defragging unless indicated during troubleshooting.

I continue to use CCleaner and Puran Boot Time defragger freeware on my installs because the cleaner regularly finds a gig of crap to clean up which is significant, and a boot-time defrag which gets System Files can speed startup and performance some. The Intelligent Optimizer on Puran's Operations tab moves most-used files to the outer edge of the HD for faster reads.

In 10+ years of installing CCleaner hundreds of times representing thousands of uses, I've never had a single issue resulting from using its Registry tab, which uses an algorithm that is the standard for the industry also used by equally-respected Revo Uninstaller.

I know you can speed up perfomance by defragging drives,and i do,but is it worth while defragging registry,the sofware i am refering to caculated 8,97% more power or space,i am not sure,and to this mcafee talk mcafee total protection 2011 and 2012 has killed at least 50 trojans for me,so bad:i dont think so.

Defragging the registry actually means compacting the files that store the registry and removing all gaps and dead space from the registry itself. The files themselves could be fragmented or not, but that's another thing altogether.

I would consider this a procedure with a relatively small benefit at a high risk to your entire system, since Windows without a functioning registry is like...Earth without an atmosphere. (Not the best analogy I know, LOL)

McAfee is considered a problematic product by many, and actually does make life difficult for several who come here for help and end up uninstalling it on our advice. But if it works for you, then by all means it's your prerogative to stick with it.

can you please expand your answer a little bit regarding mcafee,why and how does these problems show,what could be a typical issue,there must be some cases who repeats it self.

I am new here and very glad I found this forum. I am going to get rid of all my "cleaners" programs except for CC. ( Advance System Care, RegClean and PC Health). Btw, how about the ATF ?

asser, I'm unable to comment further on McAfee as I've never used it on my own systems and it's been years since I saw it on anybody else's computer. I was just pointing out what the general opinion on this forum is (which I agree with), and I do think it's a very bloated product which basically amounts to sending in Goliath to do David's work.
