Should I defragment my (18% fragmented) SSD?

I agree with everything Hopalong said. I would also stay away from System mechanic too. Windows 7 is the very best at keeping itself Clean and fully functional. Many or most of these type registry cleaners and tune up utilities will mess Windows 7 up. As far as tweeks to your SSD. I would do very little. Make sure defrag is turned off, check your alignment, turn off hibernate will save you about 8GB of space on the SSD) and make sure trim is enabled. But if you have others look for your SSD and the number it was given. type select disk # (where # is the number of the disk, yours will probably be 0) example: select disk 0 and press enter, it will reply that disk 0 is now the selected disk, type list partition and press enter. It will show the disk size and offset. The offset is your alignment. As long as it is divisible by 4 it is OK. If you get a number you don't understand or you think is not right, post a screenshot here and one of us will tell you about it. Other than that, you really don't need to do anything. You can find tweeks all over the internet that recommend all sorts of things. They are not necessary and too many people have tweeked their SSD to where it no longer gives good performance. This is all I do to mine. I have 4 by 3 manufacturers and all work quite well.

do yourself a favor and keep things simple. No "tuning" tools, no tweaks no playing around with the SSD. And do not be afraid that the SSD is fragile and cannot stand a lot of R/W operations - it is a lot sturdier than a spinning disk and there is no reason to move ANY system files away from it.

The only 2 actions I recommend is to move your user folders to the HDD and if you do not use hiberate, get rid of the hiberfile. The cmd command is powercfg -h off
