Windows 7: Performance Issue - Computer Shrinks

Performance Issue - Computer Shrinks

I use alot of memory intensive programs, and every so often Windows goes bonkers requiring me to reboot. The culprit is probably RAM, I don't lack it, rather need more, at the time that option is not available. This is the main thing I notice without going into specifics of all the programs and how each of them go wonky. On the desktop all the icons get as small as possible and I can't enlarge them, simple enough, I hope. Any way without rebooting I can fix this ?

Are you sure it is a RAM problem. When the system has that hickup again, look into Reource Monitor > Memory tab and see what the actual RAM usage is. Would be nice if you could post a snip of the colored bar.

Why is this occurring ? How can I fix without reboot, it is still doing it I left the PC alone for 24 hours hoping to find a fix without rebooting.

The RAM usage is a bit high but should not really present a problem. Run a sfc /scannow in cmd. Maybe it can fix it.

I can't, it won't type it, odd characters appear, either that or it creates a new prompt as in C:\> Any other way without rebooting ?

You can run a startup/repair. But what is the problem with a reboot.

I was hoping to solve without rebooting, to find the problem as to, why. I'll have to reboot when this arises as I have been doing. Thanx

What exactly happened again. Regarding the odd characters, you may want to check whether the Num lock is on.
