    Faster Thumbnail updating???

Hi, I have IP cams storing loads of wildlife video clips on my win 7 pc, via FTP.

When I browse the folders it takes a while for each thumbnail to update.
There are a lot of video clips which are motion activated, and I want a quick way to get the thumbnails updated, so they are there already when I open the folder. At the moment I have to wait for each to update. The PC is on all the time and could easily be updating each new thumbnail in realtime, but is there any way to set the PC to do this?

Any ideas? Win 7 64 Ult.

Hello deer01 and welcome to Seven Forums.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Windows 7 has a habit of deleting and rebuilding the thumbnail cache so I don't know if this will help or not.

Not what I was looking for

Hi, thanks but this was not what I was looking for.

Each day I can have say 500 new video clips in any one of several folder. When I open the folder in explorer the new thumbnails are just icons and it can take 3-5 seconds each for them to change to thumbnails. So, just to update the thumbnails takes about 30 mins for just one folder. Even when I open a folder it will only update the thumbnails that are visible on the screen, and wait with the rest until I scroll down to them.

What I want is for all the thumbnails to be updated either in real time when the video clips are made, or as a batch operation. I just don't have the time to wait for all this updating while I am waiting and scrolling.

    Any ideas?
