Yes that is strange. It is here labeled AHCI:

Try enabling AHCI first by the tutorial: AHCI : Enable in Windows 7 / Vista and then download the correct driver from the motherboard's manufacturer after restarting.

I had to install USB 3.0 and AHCI seperately...

Here are my SATA drivers for my Rampage III Formula board:

I have tried to locate the driver at the ASRock website, but it doesn't list my MB (ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4), the closest that it gets is the Deluxe 3. That is why I tried using the AMD driver instead. I see from you screenshots that it is the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller that appears to be where the driver installs. Do you think I should use that to navigate to the .exe for installation? As you can see, I have a few more devices there than you do...which one would I use?

I think we are going in circles, because as I said, I've already downloaded the AMD driver and tried to install it without any luck so far.

From here: ASRock > Products > Motherboard > 890FX Deluxe4 > Download

These should be all you need, right?:

I have the RAID driver installed in my system, I haven't found a reason not to. I just downloaded everything pretty much.

You shouldn't have to navigate to anything. If you haven't installed a driver yet for it, it should be using generic, and you can install the drivers I linked you. If you have them, then you should be set for AHCI. Test it.

AMD and has a driver autodetect you might use if you need their driver (unless, as you say, the driver isn't working)

If your BIOS has AHCI listed, you're good

Thanks for the link, I have the AMD all in one driver downloading now. Maybe I shouldn't ask an Intel person, but I guess that is the one for ACHI...yes?

I don't know much about the floppy image one, but the marvell sata should have the AHCI driver at least for 2 SATA ports.
Your board specs say that you should get AHCI from all SATA ports:
SATA3- 6 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors by AMD SB850, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10 and RAID 5), NCQ, AHCI and "Hot Plug" functions
- 2 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors by Marvell SE9120, support NCQ, AHCI and "Hot Plug" functions

It seems like you would need an AMD driver in addition, unless it works fine without one. It doesn't look like the driver is listed in the link I gave you. *Edit - ah, there is AMD at the top...

And you are right, I am all Intel. But you can try the AMD all-in-one driver, that is your only hope of getting it from that link

any updates? How is AHCI performing and did you get those drivers working? Or have you reverted back to IDE?

No AHCI option in BIOS, is my computer default in AHCI or IDE?
I bought a brand new SSD, installed it in Windows 7, and there is no option in my BIOS for the SATA controller (to switch between IDE and AHCI Mode). How do I determine whether my computer's sata controller is using IDE or AHCI? I want to make sure that my AHCI controller is enabled and not IDE...

SSD and AHCI
Recently it was suggested to me that AHCI doesn't offer enough benefit to be particularly worthwhile. That's fine. Am ok to turn it off. I have purchased a new SSD drive - OCZ Vertex 3 120gb. I will format it as a single partition. On the OCZ site it said to disable AHCI as it can cause...

No AHCI
On my work PC I've changed the registry setting and rebooted but it didn't install the drivers. In Device Manager there's no AHCI. Can't boot if BIOS is set to AHCI because there is none according to Windows. I've tried everything I can think of. Any ideas?
