    Msrt

I know from past experience that this program takes forever to complete a scan, and that is the reason that I put off letting Windows Updates install the new version, until now. However, after only a couple of minutes downloading and installing it, all is quiet on the cyber front.

I have tried several ways to call it up to no avail, and now if it is going to run, I would like to get it over. What is the solution?

    Do you mean MSRT?

If so, have to tried running mrt.exe that is located in C:\Windows\System32

Yes, now that you mention it, I did mistype it. I did an advanced edit, but that only corrected it in the post, not the title. Oddly enough, I just checked the installed update through the Control Panel, and I couldn't find it listed, even though it was listed right after the update. Maybe it ran and deleted itself, but if it did, it was when I wasn't looking.

Yes, it usually scans right away, at least for me but the mrt.exe remains in the system32 folder and can be run again if you wish. It will be replaced at the next update with the latest version.
