DDR PC-2700 and PC 3200 performance hi,
i'm using an old computer with this specs:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood 2.53 GHz
Motherboard: Asus P4P8X
RAM: 2GB DDR
GPU: Sapphire HD 3450 512 MB DDR2 (AGP 8x)
PSU: 400W
OS: Win XP PRO SP3 / Win 7 PRO SP1 (all 32bit)
this is my question...my ram is:
1,5 GB pc-3200 (200MHz)
512 MB pc-2700 (166MHz)
if i use only pc-3200 ram modules, should I get a performance boost?
now my RAM clock is 134.7 Mhz...

Due to the processor cited you won't really get anything running at multiples of more than 133Mhz on the system.
Your slower RAM is as much as your board can handle anyway, so the faster 1.5Gb stuff is running in legacy mode anyway.
Unlikely you'd find it now, at least cheaply, but 2 x 2Gb of DDR2 533Mhz RAM would give you a boost... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom built machine OS W7 x64 CPU Intel Q9300 2.5Ghz Quad LGA775 (Would like Q9650) Motherboard Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3R (F6 Bios) Memory 4Gb OCZ Gold 1,333Mhz Graphics Card Palit HD4850 O/C Sonic 512Mb DDR3, Dual DViD's Sound Card Azalia to twin Samson 50w Studio Monitors Monitor(s) Displays Twin Dell (E-IPS) U2311H 23.6" Screens Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz Keyboard Cherry PS/2 custom model Mouse Logitech M500 Laser Mouse PSU OCZ 600w Case Lian-Li PC8 acoustifoamed' aluminium tower Cooling Scythe 140mm Zipang Hard Drives Twin 1Tb Barracuda archivage, Twin TV/PVR 2Tb Samsungs, (80Gb Barracuda for the OS, but SSD envisaged...) but in my bios i have 4 options in "ram speed"...:
Auto
133MHz
166MHz
200MHz
now i'm running Windows XP with RAM at 166MHz... but i'm not able to run them at 200Mhz | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Media Center PC m7750.it (modified) OS Genuine Windows 7 Professional SP1 32bit CPU Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E6300 @1.86 GHz (2 cores, 2 MB L2) Motherboard Asus P5LP-LE Leonite (Socket LGA 775, PCIe 1.1) Memory 3 GB DDR2 Dual Channel PC2-5300 (2x512 MB + 2x1024 MB) Graphics Card PNY GeForce GTS 450 XLR8 - Performance Edition (1 GB GDDR5) Sound Card Integrated Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Packard Bell Viseo 200Ws Screen Resolution 1600x900 @59/60Hz Keyboard HP Wireless Keyboard 5187URF2 Mouse Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse v2.0 USB PSU NILOX 600W Case HP Media Center m7000 Cooling 4 fans (System, CPU, GPU, PSU) Hard Drives Western Digital SATA 313 GB Other Info Secondary PC:
