Memory usage way too high- hovering aroung 50% Hey all, I've been noticing for the last few days that my memory usage is very high.
I am using an HP 635 and I keep noticing my memory usage is excessive; hovering around 50% or so. It even got to the point of causing a BSOD today.
I have tried disabling all plugins and extensions on Firefox and closing it, but that did little good. Please tell me how to fix this!
Also, if you need more info or need me to do something, please keep in mind that I can be very tech illiterate at times (know some things, have no idea about others) so use small words and all that jazz. Thank you very much! | My System Specs |

What makes you think it is "high"?
What makes you think memory usage is the cause of your BSODs?

This is just high in my subjective experience. I am using 50% if my memory, according to task manager, and that seems too high for comfort.
I know the memory was the cause of the BSOD because the error name was MEMORY_MANAGEMENT (caps are theirs, not mine.) | My System Specs | | OS Windows Seven- Unknown |

I think he meant what does 50% mean in gigs? How much ram do you have installed? 50% of 2 gig would be normal, 50% of 4 gig /may/ be a little high. 50% of 8 gig on boot would definitely be too high for a stock install... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Scratch built OS Windows 7 x64 Ultimate CPU i7 960 Motherboard Asus P6X58D Memory 12 Gig Corsair Dominator Graphics Card Nvidia 480 Sound Card Maudio Delta 44 + breakout box Monitor(s) Displays Dell UltraSharp U2410 24in and Samsung 21 dual monitors Screen Resolution 1920x1200 and 1280x1024 Keyboard Logitech G15 + N52 game pad Mouse Logitech MX518 PSU Corasair TX850 Case Cooler Master HAF Cooling Corsair H50 Hard Drives Primary: Intel X-25M G2 160G SSD

I have two gigs. I just worry because this is A. My school laptop (I take all online classes) and B. The computer where I write all my stories (I am an amateur author) so I just want to take good care of it. I'll just keep an eye on things I guess and start looking at things if it gets to 60% or more.
Thanks! | My System Specs | | OS Windows Seven- Unknown |

Sounds fine to me.
Look at the memory tab of performance monitor to keep track.
I have 4 gigs and normally use 1.5 or so. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;

With only 2 GBs you cannot expect any less. My systam uses 1.9GB (of 8GB) right now. The /7 system is very good at managing RAM. And there is no need to save RAM for a rainy day. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 Memory usage way too high- hovering aroung 50% problems?
