It uses that much when " Yeah it locks up, and uses around 60% of the cpu when i'm in a video call." Video call increases its usage a bunch. 180 Mb still is not causing his problem.

    Hi,

I have just looked and mine is only using about 43-44MB too.

I did notice though, that when i applied the XP and Vista style "patch" [to run WLM in Vista Compatibilty Mode, in order to return messenger to the system tray / notifcation area] it would use a lot of system resources (memory, over 250MB, and cpu) and often froze or would just display a blank window. So I switched back to the new taskbar behaviour by running in normal mode again. This immeadiately fixed the problem. Is this the case with you?

My problem with WLM is that in the Options under Sounds, all the sounds are listed as (I am guessing) Korean letters rather than English... (It is a Samsung laptop - South Korean)

Anyone here now anything about this? lol

    Adam.

Another option to consider if you're not on an MSN leash is to run Live Messenger through your Hotmail or Live Mail webpage by keeping it open when you want to get messages. You can access Contacts via the Messenger link at top of email webpage.

I classify installed Messengers with Toolbars and Search services as Spyware and Crapware and don't want them freeloading on my System.
