Why Is Windows Live Messenger Using So Much Memory

My Live Messenger is using 180K of memory! It keeps rising as well. Does anybody know what could be causing this?

180 Kb is tiny, minicule even, why does that amount bother you? Is there something else happening?

180MB is still tiny. Stop worrying about it until you computer locks up with hard faults.

Ok even 180 Mb is small. You have 3000 Mb, and it is using 180. Why the trouble? If you are slow or freezing it isnt because of this 180 Mb.

Yeah it locks up, and uses around 60% of the cpu when i'm in a video call. It's not normal. I've found no viruses. It usually uses under 100,000K.

Memory and cpou use is different. the 180 Mb isnt causing the 60% cpu use, some other factor is.

Take a snip of the performance tab of task manager sorted by cpu use and upload it to us.

Just checked on my WML. It takes only 44,108 kB of memory. I think 180,000 kB is far too much though perhaps nothing to worry about.

Please check if you have the latest version (I think Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3538.0513)) of WML and if not then kindly update.
