Will 7 run well on this configuration?

    Will 7 run well on this configuration?


    I have been very happy with XP (mostly desktops) and have completely avoided Vista for our company. I have no experience with Windows 7. I am ready to upgrade our sales personnel to laptops and am wondering if I will be happy with the speed of the following setup:

    Intel Core 2 Duo 1.66 GHz
    2 GB RAM (considering upgrade to 4GB)
    Windows 7 Pro

    The computers are used mainly for email, a little bit of internet, printing, office documents, etc.. They will be taking these computers to accounts so startup speed is a little bit of a factor.

    Will this hardware configuration perform adequately or will it bog down with Windows 7.

    I'd upgrade to 4gb RAM and then you're good for 32- or 64-bit - although you can run 32-bit on 2gb to see how it performs as I've seen it run as good on some uses.

    But first run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

    That configuration will work fine for years if all you intend to do is email, a little bit of internet, printing, and office documents.

    Five or 10 years from now you may be forced to upgrade due to a parts failure or because Windows 7 is no longer supported.

    But you should run the upgrade advisor as Greg said.
