Windows 7 - Slow PC, Health Report says Device Disabled but Dev. Mgr. says its ok

My PC has slowed to a crawl. Performance monitor says CPU is constantly 50-60% busy with nothing happening on the screen. System Health Report says A device is disabled preventing it from working properly.Details:The device, Officejet 4500 G510n-z, is disabled. If this device is no longer used it may be intentionally disabled. The Plug and Play ID for this device is ROOT\MULTIFUNCTION\000

Yet Device Manager says device is working properly.

When I Googled the problem, many sites suggest that malware is to blame. I have had McAfee Security Suite running all the time and McAfee system scans say no problems exist. Can someone suggest a course of action?

What processes are using up the CPU cycles as shown in Resource Monitor? Rank them from most to least using the CPU column header.

I wouldn't necessarily trust McAfee here and would download and run something like Malwarebytes.

Does the Officejet in fact work OK and does this problem go away if it is disconnected?

One of the worst infections we see here is MucAfee AV. I would replace it now with Microsoft Security Essentials and your problems may go away.

If not work through these troubleshooting steps.

Thanks to those who replied as the problem appears solved. Malware Bytes did not find any problems but seemed to eliminate the slowness anyway.
