Hi, thanks again for the reply. I think though I had best start a new thread as, for now at least, the problem I have is totally different. If you have time to look, that would be great. Thanks again

I think that you are overly concered about the error classification, I think that the important area to watch is degradation, false is good.
In any event, you can try a clean boot and see if that answers any questions

Sorry, are you referring to the internet problem?

I think that a clean boot will show if any of the start up items are causing your slow boot.

I don't think that you have read the previous page - I am not getting a slow boot now - and I also said in #15 that I have already tried a clean boot to no avail; I have however lost my ability to get online.

    Thanks for replying anyway..

Ok, had to choose between slow boot or no internet: I did a repair install, but afterwards I STILL had the slow booting, so I went back to how things were, via a system image I'd saved. The internet problem oddly solved itself - it may have been an outside problem

This is getting complex - the situation now is that I have internet, but booting is slow again and the boot log shows same drivers are not loading. I am probably going to have to live with it then?

    Thanks,

    Martin

Work with Cluberti on getting a trace which will given you the definitive answer. He's been scarce lately that I've seen but keep trying.
