Search Function Start Menu Broken

After installing a registry fix to fix my issue with renaming/moving/creating folders, the search function seems to be broken in the start menu.

I search something that I searched a thousand times before, and it always instantly and forever says that there are no items matching my search.

Try Disabling and Enabling it. Control Panel - Programs and Features - Turn Windows features on or off. Select Windows Search. Disable, restart. Enable, restart.

Next Right Click anywhere on Start Menu (not the bar) and select Properties. Click Customize and chose your Preference under "Search other files and libraries".

Then try installing Everything if the above doesn't help.

Didn't work, and just scanned when I had the last problem yesterday.

And when I try to search, I get a popup saying

Windows cannot find "search:query=whateverIsearched".

You stated in your first post.
After installing a registry fix to fix my issue
What did you install or what program did you use for your registry fix?
This might help and can't hurt. Run from the cmd. prompt/admin sfc /scannow.
This is Windows 7 System File Checker. As it indicates it checks Windows 7 files and repairs them if it can. If it finds a problem run it 2 more times and reboot after each. Let us know what is found and repaired if you can. Getting into and changing the registry is a tricky thing and should only be done by the trained in such things. I'm not one of those trained in such things.

Am trying the sfc now. Will edit if it works.

I attached the fix I used to fix the folders, if you want to look at that and find the problem.
FolderDescriptions x64.reg

Edit: Didn't work. Still getting the error, and it removed all my custom dll mods D:<

Index - Rebuild

You could also try running this Fixit

You could also try opening an explorer Window, go to Organize and Folder Options. Click the Search Tab and select the appropiate options.

Search Function Start Menu Broken-example.png

Then follow this tutorial to set Windows Search to Automatic and Start it:
Services - Start or Disable

If not I would download the free Everything and disable Windows Search, it searches faster and doesn't have problems.

Once something has got into your registry their no way to know what has changed.
Give this a careful read.
